The progress we’re making is great, so I’m looking forward to showing you more as development continues and prove that all the hard work has been worth it. We know that what we are creating here is hugely ambitious and we’re proud of the fact that we’re getting close now because we’re a relatively small studio. No racing title has ever combined the development of a socially charged, multi-platform dynamic menu with all the other connected online elements that DRIVECLUB delivers. Whether they play just to have fun, or to complete every challenge and beat their rivals in every race, it’s this connected community who will keep the game fresh and enjoyable well after launch, so it makes sense for the connectivity to be perfect. It’s also absolutely vital to our ambition of growing a vibrant network of millions of connected clubs, who all share the excitement of driving amazing cars together. Essentially it’s where you discover what to play, and who to play with. Whenever you fire up the game between every race you play, and when you log in to DRIVECLUB on your phone or tablet, the dynamic menu has to be slick to ensure your experience is seamlessly connected. The dynamic menu is key to how much fun you’re going to get out of the game because it is the glue that connects you to everyone else in the DRIVECLUB community. We wanted to make sure we got one important feature right. I know we have been quiet for a while since we made the decision to delay the game, so I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know exactly why the team felt that DRIVECLUB needed more development. Your great support deserves us to be open with you. Your messages drive us to do everything we can to live up to our original ambition of making DRIVECLUB the game that invigorates the racing genre again. We appreciate all of your support - it’s motivating and humbling for us to have such a vocal and supportive community. As gamers first and foremost, we are determined to deliver the game we promised to the quality we know you expect. I’m proud to be leading the extremely talented and hard-working development team here at Evolution. Following Shuhei’s message yesterday, I’m here give to you an update on DRIVECLUB direct from Evolution Studios. Maybe it's out there in a game I haven't played, but I've never seen this in a game.+ Posted by Paul Rustchynsky on // Game Director, MotorStorm RC I'm not saying this has never happened in a video game. In trying to correct, I oversteered and rammed the steel barrier nearly head-on, and then the next-generation hit me. Keeping those realistic physics in mind, I sped off to explore the rest of the track and decided to play more conservatively.Īpparently I hadn't learned my lesson yet, because I repeated the same mistake that put me off-road earlier. The PS4's DualShock 4 controller met me with just enough resistance, but my lead foot was too eager and I spun out. An opponent popped up on my screen, along with their score and a sort of holographic outline, letting me know the area I had to improve in each category.Ī line on the track let me know that where the drift challenge started and stopped, so I wasted no time jamming on the left trigger to start a drift. The devleoper pointed out these challenges as I raced through them: drift around this corner, reach a top speed on this straight away, set a fast lap time. I saddled up to a DriveClub demo and truly entered the next-generation of racing games.ĭriveClub makes for an interesting community experience, challenging you in different ways on different parts of every track. I've never seen a bigger space at the biggest expo in gaming, and plenty of next-gen kits were ready for the energetic gamers and writers. Regardless, my lust for PlayStation 4 experiences led me into Sony's massive E3 2013 booth.
